Marlborough, MA - Oct 1, 2008 - Special Olympics Massachusetts (SOMA) furthered their Campaign for a New home today in Marlborough by ceremoniously breaking ground at the site of the new SOMA headquarters, the Yawkey Sports Training Center.
SOMA President Bob Johnson along with SOMA athletes, the Mayor of Marlborough Nancy Stevens, Jim Healey President of the Yawkey Foundations, members of the City Council, James Brett, President and CEO of the New England Council and other key supporters were on hand to turn the first ceremonial shovel.
"We are extremely excited about the Yawkey Sports Training Center, which we believe will significantly increase our ability to serve Special Olympics athletes and train key players of our organization to further our mission," said Johnson.
